ATELIER XI joins the American Institute of Architects(AIA)'s exhibition at the Guangzhou Design Week themed “Catalyze Change - Defining Future Urbanism”. The exhibition brings together the work of eight AIA design firms practicing in the Great Bay Area, including KPF, Steven Holl Architects, SOM, NBBJ, LOD, UV Architecture, Studio 10 and Atelier XI.
Responding to the exhibition theme, Atelier XI presents with four recent projects which are located at various urbanization situations: at urban periphery, within the abandoned factory, surrounded by neglected village, or on the vast agricultural farmland. By introducing a series of minimal interventions to the sites, Atelier XI aspires to create inspiring architectural spaces and to bring educational and communicative energy to the local community, thus to provide an alternative solution to contemporary conundrums of uneven development between urban and rural, modern and native communities.
广州设计周于2020年12月3日开幕，一树建筑工作室受邀参加AIA美国建筑师协会 “促进创新 - 定义未来的城市主义” 专题策展。本次展览邀请了8家在粤港澳大湾区进行设计实践的AIA成员公司共同探讨这一主题，其中包括斯蒂文•霍尔建筑事务所、KPF建筑设计事务所、SOM建筑设计事务所、NBBJ建筑设计公司、朗奥建筑、独特视野建筑设计、Studio10和一树建筑。
面对本次AIA提出的展览主题“促进创新 - 定义未来的城市主义”，一树建筑以新近落成及进行中的四个设计项目进行回应，这些项目坐落于城市边缘、身处荒废的工厂、被遗弃的村庄、默默无闻的农业园之中，以轻介入的艺术化姿态融入当地社会生态，为当地社区提供充满想象力并可供教育传播的空间容器，希望以此作为针对当代城市与乡村、现代与本土之普遍困境的一种替代解答。
